Accreditation
Accreditations and Awards, (both schools)
One element of Riverside’s aspirations is to re-achieve the many awards and accreditations that Moselle and William C. Harvey schools have gained in recent years, through demonstrating the same high levels of commitment, skill and outstanding practice in these areas of our work with our new students.
Some of these awards have only needed a ‘light-touch’ re-accreditation since the good practice currently recognised has been audited as continuing at Riverside, with all the secondary staff at the two schools transferring to Riverside, bringing with them their wide range of their skills and experience.
In 2010 Moselle achieved full National Autistic Society Accreditation following a rigorous year-long process of scrutiny of the school’s provision for pupils with autism, (at the time 70 pupils out of a total of 125 on roll). The inspection process itself, which included a comprehensive programme of lesson observations, gave the school an unqualified pass.
William C. Harvey was awarded the Investor In People standard for the fourth time in 2009 in recognition of the school’s success in the professional development of staff. To be successful in this area the school has recognised the need to invest in and update and extend the skills of staff to the highest possible level.
Both Moselle and William C. Harvey were awarded the Activemark and the Sportsmark awards in 2008 for delivery of the National School Sport Strategy. This recognised the exceptionally high standard of sports provision across the schools and recorded the percentage of time available for PE and school sport, the range of sports and opportunities, and links to sports clubs.
William C. Harvey received the International School Award in 2008 and Moselle in 2009. This award acknowledges the high quality of the school’s many joint successful projects linked to embedding an international dimension throughout the school curriculum, designed to engender a greater understanding on the part of all pupils of what it means to be a global citizen.
In 2008 Moselle received an Outstanding Sustainable School award, having been nominated by the Local Authority in recognition of the school’s exceptional achievements in the field of sustainability; with particular regard to the school’s independent travel and recycling initiatives.
Both schools were awarded the National Standard for Healthy Schools in 2007. This followed a thorough audit of the quality and quantity of the wide-ranging initiatives that the schools had undertaken in relation to the promotion of good health, both in the delivery of the curriculum and throughout school life.
