Volunteering at Riverside

Riverside School has a long history of accommodating volunteers and student placements.

As a result of a placement in our school students or volunteers will be much more equipped to understand the varying special needs that our students have and wider experience of children with additional needs within our communities.

Volunteering at Riverside School offers a fantastic source of work experience for those considering a career in teaching or working with young people. It is also a great way to develop communication skills that are valued by all employers, whether working with young people or not.

If you are a good communicator looking to make a difference who shares our school vision of placing students at the heart of the school’s work focusing on student progress; emotionally, socially and academically then Riverside School invites you to get in touch.

If you are volunteering for a sustained period of time then the school will organise for you to undertake a DBS check with the Local Authority.  Students on placement need a valid DBS from their college/university to be viewed by the Deputy Headteacher before starting their placement. Volunteers are also required to have 2 references from known professionals, before being accepted into the school. ID must be presented on your first day of work (acceptable forms of ID will be relayed to you during your induction).

If you are interested in becoming a Volunteer or would like a Student placement then please contact Marc Kirby, our Deputy Headteacher via email: admin@riverside.haringey.sch.uk

If you are offered a placement you will receive a full induction of the school including health & safety.
